GST Calculator for Ecommerce Sellers (India)
Add or remove GST on any selling price, check the slab for common product categories, and see the 18% GST buried inside your marketplace commission — the charge most D2C founders forget to price in.
Slab placements above are the common ones for ecommerce categories — verify a specific product against the official GST rate finder. GST rules change; this tool is for pricing decisions, not tax advice.
The ecommerce GST you miss
Product GST is one number. The one founders miss is the 18% GST charged on top of marketplace fees — Flipkart commission, Amazon referral and closing fees, collection charges and paid shipping are all services, so GST stacks onto the total of those fees. On a 12% commission plus fees, that GST is roughly 2% of order value in invisible cost. Both fee calculators on this site (Flipkart and Amazon) already build it into the payout math.
Common questions
What are the GST slabs in India?
0% (essentials), 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. Most D2C goods: packaged food at 5%, apparel above ₹1,000 and phones at 12%, most electronics and cosmetics at 18%. The 5/12/18/28 structure has been broadly stable since 2017.
How do I calculate GST on a selling price?
Price exclusive of GST: GST = price × rate/100; total = price + GST. Price inclusive (MRP): base = price × 100/(100 + rate); GST = price − base. Example: ₹1,180 MRP at 18% → base ₹1,000 + GST ₹180.
Do marketplace commissions attract GST?
Yes — 18% GST applies on the total of all marketplace fees (commission, fixed/closing, collection, shipping). It is charged to the seller on top of the fees, which is why effective marketplace take-rates run higher than the commission % alone suggests.
Is MRP inclusive of GST?
Yes. Retail products sold at MRP have GST inside the printed price. When you price your own store, make the tax-inclusive price the one you compare to market MRPs — a ₹999 price at 12% GST means ₹892.86 base and ₹107.14 tax.
