Shopify Pricing in India (2026): What a Store Really Costs

The subscription is the smallest line item. Between GST, the third-party transaction fee (Shopify Payments is not available in India), apps and the build itself, a ₹1,499 plan quietly becomes ₹6,000+ a month. Here is the full 2026 slab.

The hidden costs new D2C stores miss

  • Transaction fees stack. Shopify Payments is not available in India, so you pay Shopify’s third-party fee (2% on Basic) plus your gateway — Razorpay/CCAvenue run ~2%. Combined, ~4% of every transaction leaves before anything else. On ₹10L GMV that is ₹40,000.
  • Apps are the real subscription. A lean stack (email, reviews, upsell, analytics) runs ₹1,500–6,000/mo. A realistic Basic-plan store with 3 paid apps and a domain lands around ₹6,400/mo — before ads.
  • The build is one-time, the bloat is forever. Store builds start lean here at Socialee for a reason — every app you add after launch is a permanent line item. The 2026 Shopify app stack shows which apps actually earn their fee.

Picking a plan: the honest heuristic

  1. Basic until GMV clears ~₹3L/mo or you need more staff accounts — the 2% fee is cheaper than the upgrade at that volume.
  2. Grow when the 1% fee savings vs 2% outweigh ₹4,100/mo extra — roughly past ₹4–5L/mo GMV on the transaction-fee delta alone.
  3. Advanced when you need custom reports, 15 staff seats, or the 0.5% fee on ₹10L+ GMV.

The plan decision matters less than the stack decision. Full comparison in Which Shopify Plan and Shopify vs Custom vs WooCommerce.
